There are not enough positive, complimentary words in the English language to describe the incredible experience we encountered with Ace Handyman Services St Pete South. From start to finish, it was nothing short of impressive. The term 'handyman' is an absolute understatement, and should probably be replaced with 'consummate professional'.

We were looking for a contractor to replace our three entry doors, and a large picture window. We stumbled upon their name from a list of contractors Florida's My Safe Florida Home website. From the very first phone call, there was just that gut feeling that all was going to be great. We met with Jonathan, the business owner. He was on time, friendly, knowledgeable, and confident. We had our initial consultation, and then another meeting with their lead craftsperson, Sarah. We then decided to get two other estimates, and one company never showed up, and the other started with high-pressure sales as soon as they arrived. Choosing Ace was the obvious choice.

The custom doors and picture window would take six weeks to manufacture. His wife, Gisela, kept us informed of every production update, and set appointments that worked with our schedule. There were texts and emails about arrival times, and the crew always showed up as scheduled. The picture window had a manufacturing defect and had to be redone, through absolutely no fault of theirs. The rest of the work was complete. When that window was delivered, it had the slightest of chips in it that we may not have ever seen, but it was caused somewhere between being made and being delivered, and they would not accept the delivery. It was made one more time. Again, there was constant communication, and there were countless unnecessary apologies. Everyone on the staff made everything seem effortless.

The project was finally finished and we could not be more pleased. From the first day of work, we were speaking their praises to everyone we knew. Being from New York, we were very used to reliable, dependable, talented, professional contractors. When we moved down to Florida, that didn't always seem as easy to find. Being fortunate enough to find Ace was wonderful, as it was the perfect balance of a smaller, caring, hardworking contractor taking total pride in their work, with the organization and communication of a much larger company.

Thank you for a job absurdly well done. It's the perfect balance of form versus function, and security versus stunning. We could not have hoped for it to turn out better. What a difference a door makes.

It seems there's nothing they're unable to accomplish. There's an endless list of tasks they'll take on. We could not recommend them any more highly. They should surely be the go to handymen, or consummate professionals, for every home project, large or small.

Erik arrived on time and went right to work, even sorted out a little surprise with materials we had ordered, so we were able to keep on track with our schedule. He left the workspace clean and tidy at the end of his day. Very pleasant, competent craftsman. He removed an old acoustic tile drop ceiling in a half-bath and put up these faux tin ceiling tiles. Very happy with the job! Erik also did the same type work in a larger bathroom, and it involved prepping the ceiling after removing old exhaust fan and lights before the new tiles could go up. Worked with tricky not-perfectly-square corners (1926 bungalow - nothing is perfectly square) and made it come out looking perfect.

I would not recommend Ace handyman services to anyone.

I have used them twice in the past. The first time I asked for a quote on a deck addition. They came out and they never contacted me about it. When I called them a week later, they told me that, it was outside of their scope. When I asked them why they didn’t contact me because I was waiting on their bid to know whether to hire them or other handyman companies, they said that’s not what they do. They forgot. Horrible communication.

The second time that I hired them to restore a very small bathroom, they came out and gave me an estimate for the drywall. And the first time they came out and they only removed a couple of items. I had to have a mold, remediation company, come and remove all the drywall that Ace had already charged me for. And then they came out the next time and charge me more money and didn’t do the work.

It was so frustrating working with them that I just walked away. I Was so tired of their lies and their smoking mirrors. It wasn’t worth calling them back because they were doing such a lousy job and charging me more each time.

I deleted the owner's reply because they were untrue, malicious and irrelevant to my actual complaint and the work they started on my home. He made unnecessary comments about parts of my home that they were not hired to work on, so I'm unsure why he added those unwarranted comments. I hope he can become a better business leader and take comments, good and bad, as a way to improve his business and social skills versus attacking people who trusted his company to do work on their home.

Not satisfied. He realigned the gate but the latch no longer slides into the locked position. I was not around for the repair or he would not have left until the latch was functional.

Update:
Ace Handyman Services will work hard to get it right. He came back while I was out and realigned the latch and it works perfectly. Don't waste your time and money on so-called "handymen" who don't show up, half-finished work and no warranty. I highly recommend using the professionals from Ace Hardware Handyman Services. Hats off to George and his crew. Call them for any size repair and you will be happy you did.

We needed a door replaced on the back of our house. I chose to use a reputable company that was licensed and insured instead of trying to find a random trustworthy Handyman on my own. Ace was very quick to respond and excellent at communication. They sent Sarah out and she did an amazing job for us. Most of our home had been repaired from the devastation of hurricane Helene by contractors who squeezed us into their overworked schedules, but had no capacity to return for the final few items we had left, which was to replace some interior doors, and caulk and paint the door casings. Sarah from Ace Handyman Services came in and knocked out those final repairs in three days. I am happy to recommend ace Handyman services to anyone needing home repairs.
