Omg I’m freaking out, the nurses are fine when they actually come out. Never showed up or called for an appointment and then we had to go to the ER where my husband had a blood infection. Still did not hear from them for 3 days wanting to come out for a visit (my husband was admitted for 5 days with iv infusion) I called them and said what is going on and they said we don’t know what happened. My husband gets sent home on Thursday and a nurse will be out on Saturday and they just called and said they don’t know what happened but someone will be out tomorrow, ridiculous, horrible , I’m
Looking for a new home health team .

There needs to be transparency with families. They put my mom under terminal sedation without really being clear about it, leaving her family with confusion and the feeling of loss before the actual transition. If only I knew their plan and had the terminology at the time. My mom went from semi normal to absolutely drugged out within one week. They said it was all the symptoms of her illness. Don't allow them to do this to your loved one. The last days don't have to be like that. Avoid this hospice care like the plague. She trusted them and they overmedicated her, only until the last day where she actually did need oxygen but they didn't deliver it soon enough. Nurse still hadn't even gotten there by 12 even though she'd been having shortness of breath since 5 in the morning. Then the nurse comes and pronounces her dead and announces that its 1:09pm as if that's the official time. My mom passed over an hour before that. They move very slowly unless it comes to strong medications that can be dangerous when combined; they're really quick to prescribe and deliver those. It's like the interactions of meds stop mattering when the label is switched to hospice rather than palliative care. Also, no nurses are stable and each time a new nurse came , they'd adjust her dosages in a way that seemed random. Nothing can bring my mom back, but I don't want people to have additional trauma by trusting this service. So hopefully this sways people away because most likely, you'll want better for your loved one.

I have been trying to get another homecare agency because I have been putting up with the two therapists PT and OT who comes together for my husband’s therapy. During the 30 mins sessions that they give my husband most of it is chit- chatting with their personal problems they are supposedly doing sessions with my husband. All the 30 mins session they give my husband plus a non stop chit-chatting and socializing with each with each other while my husband is trying to concentrate on what they are talking about instead of concentrating on the orders give. I finally reported this to the manger. Change PT and telling me that she wa told
by the manager that she will discharge my husband in three weeks. What? I shocked. All of a sudden the decision was made not even getting to the end of all the sessions that the manager decided
that my husband should be discharged! how could you discharge someone without knowingly the outcome first? They also sendPT only when there is available (automated texting ) but no OT came. then they took away the aide that normally comes. My husband’s aide was very good she is new to the company. Still trying to get my husband’s dr to give the order to change agency after I told him
the situations. Since the Dr is also PennMedicne he thinks that it is best for my husband. Yes it is best if the pT and OT are
doin their jobs and not socializing with each other. I am still waiting for the order for my husband to transfer to a different agency.

Not a good experience for us in my mother’s final days. The recruiting and referral was very aggressive but nothing that we were told in the hospital was true. I felt that we were lied to in order to get my mother into their hospice care with little intent to make her last days comfortable. I would never, ever recommend Penn Hospice and Hme care and will be reporting them to the state.

I used Penn Care at Home while recovering from two surgeries. I had home-based skilled nursing, home health aide, PT, and OT. All services were extremely high quality, professional, and empathetic. I credit each of these professionals with the steady improvements I made. I could not have managed recovery at home without their help.
Only downsides were delay in getting services started, and occasional cancellations or scheduling changes with little notice. These issues were by far outweighed with the quality of the staff and services. I am very grateful.

Ashley Overton is in the hospital. She has gone septic. I emailed you to let you know as soon as I could. As a company you made your decision to not have us as a patient anymore. Instead of calling me directly, you had Nancy come and tell us about your decision. You also had Nancy lie to us and say you did not have enough nurses. We found out from the new company that you just didn’t want us as your clients. This comes at a time when continuity of care is most important to her care. Please don’t send a driver to my house to pick up pumps when you know Ashley is in the hospital. Also, please stop talking about us to others. This was your decision now leave us alone.

Read all the reviews before choosing Penn Home Care. Notice most positive reviews are written by employees. While Penn Care has some dedicated clinical staff, management is terrible. Scott a director is verbally abusive towards patients, & makes capriciously dangerous medical choices that detrimentally affect patient health outcomes. Kristen the vindictive nursing manager suffers from empathy burn out to a serious degree where she no longer is able to truly care about patients as people, she just sees profit margins. This is a company that just wants your insurance money as long as you're an easy case. Any post surgical case where your best outcome is desired you'll find this isn't the agency to contract with. Don't let Penn Medicine's good reputation fool you into think Penn Home Care is the same caliber service. Ask your surgeon's office to find you a quality agency - don't settle for sub par Home Care services. Look at how terrible Medicare scores are - they get a 3 out of five, which ranks them at lower than or equal to all other agencies in the city. There are agencies that will treat you or your loved ones as a person of worth who deserves the best practices, & compassion health care can provide. Look for an agency that is patient care oriented, not profit driven. Hopefully, someday Penn will replace the bad management, and revitalise this home care agency. This agency badly needs a PFAC to fix it's institutional problems.

Both I and my husband have had health problems over the past few years, but have had the good fortune to receive Penn Care at Home services. All of the therapists and nurses that came to our home were fantastic. The caring, compassion and professionalism of all were outstanding. I would highly recommend Penn Care at Home!
