RUN! Especially if you are sent to this doctor for work comp. RUN! Do NOT go to this doctor. He is the rudest and strangest doctor I have ever been to. You are not treated as a patient, you are treated as a number; or might I say a dollar sign. I debated for awhile to do an honest review about this surgeon and finally decided that I need to share my experience with others. Worst experience I have ever had with any doctor. Initially I had no idea what was going on, he walked in and looked at my arm, but did not look me in the eye or talk to me at all. He kept walking in/out of the room multiple times. Would look at my arm, then back out again. Never talking to me. He did this on multiple appointments. After surgery, I was treated the same way. He treated me sooooo poorly! He sent me to his own PT and they were shocked that my arm was hyper-extended, in a cast. That is how the doctor left me to heal; hyper-extended. Talk about pain! I tried to talk to the doctor multiple times and tried to engage with him. I even cried and told him, “I don’t understand why you refuse to talk to me.” His response, “I was hired by work comp. Not by you. They are my client.” Then he walks away. He would always ignore me and said that I would have to go through Worker’s Comp. for any questions. His staff said he was not allowed to release any of my own information to me or any medical information about me to me, as he was only allowed to release all information to Worker’s Comp.. He never would discuss my surgery with me or even recovery. I had to go through Worker’s Comp. He also showed zero; and let me repeat that ZERO compassion for the pain that I was in and the pain that he caused me because he hyperextended my arm. He blamed me for a slow recovery because I had to do my first few physical therapy on video appointments due to Covid and me having severe pneumonia. His physical therapist even had to call an ambulance for me during one of our video PT appointments, because I kept going in and out of consciousness because I could not breathe. He is a terrible surgeon, and and uncaring doctor and I absolutely would not recommend him to anyone. I have recently heard of another hand surgeon here in OKC, and he also has terrible reviews. After reading those reviews for this new doctor, I decided to share my experience with Dr. Unsell, even though it has been a couple of years, to warn others. Beware!!! BTW….after a few years, I am still unable to bend my arm all the way. Plus, I had to go in and get a second nerve block because I was in such severe pain after surgery.

I had R thumb trigger release surgery today with Dr. Unsell. He is always kind and the staff at HPI Community Hospital are very professional. I may need additional surgery on my thumb and I would 100% return to him. Great experience!

I saw Dr. Unsell in November of 2019. I had broken my elbow in 3 places. He placed an artificial elbow in my arm with a screw. I did not enjoy the nerve block, but it eventually got better. I did about 3 months of occupational therapy and I eventually was able to touch my face again and brush my hair, and do my makeup. He is a great doctor! Would recommend him to anyone having elbow and hand surgery

Dr Unsel is an excellent surgeon. His educational background is impressive, and the years of experience make him one of the best surgeons to manage hand ortho needs. I am a primary care doctor and he has treated my patients and family. I refer patients to him every week.

The staff is amazing!!! Having been in healthcare I know that staff turn over is a neverending problem in the field however Dr. Unsell's nurses, tech and receptionist all seem to have been with him for while! His team genuinely cares about the patients, the doctor, and each other! That says a lot to me!!!!
As far as Dr. Unsell's himself, he has been doing this a long time and knows his stuff! He has been working with me, my physical therapist, and Workmens Comp to try getting me back to where I need to be.

I’m giving a 3 star because the male nurse and the receptionist’s and the doctor were pleasant to speak to. However upon check out the brunette was terrible. I asked her if that was all since the doctor mentioned for us to schedule with the someone an MRI to which she responded that someone would get in contact. Ok perfect but then I asked what number we had listed? Since my husband Is very busy 99% of the day he gets unsolicited calls ( we own a construction company) so I rather handle all of our appointments and medical needs. I have more time. Of course I didn’t tell her all that just asked what number we had listed. She responded well whatever number you listed as primary in your documents. And I said I don’t remember, she then responded you don’t remember? And gave me attitude. To which I said Well I didn’t remember since I filled those documents out over a week ago. She then pulled out our paper work and basically read me the number and threw the doc at me. She was in a hurry to get us out of there regardless of no one waiting behind us. I looked it over changed the numbers gave it back. Terrible attitude. All I can say is if you read this I’d like you to know that its ok to have a bad day but it’s not our fault. I’ve work HR my whole life and tell people all the time. If you hate your job and working with people it’s no ones fault but your own find a different field to work in. The people you interact with also have problems and your attitude shouldn’t be one of the things to make their day worst.

Dr. Robert Unsell did my Thumb Arthroplasty on my right hand. He is very patient and answers all questions. The surgery went very well and I was back playing golf the next spring. Be sure you do the PT for a full recovery.

SphenoCath for immediate relief of migraine headaches is nothing short of miraculous. This procedure itself is really no big deal, there are a few seconds of mild discomfort which results in relieving debilitating pain. For the squeamish out there you'll find the worse will be hearing and thinking about the procedure.....don't think about it just know you'll be back on your feet, living a normal life. I'm so glad I was referred to Dr. Unsell's office.......three treatments and I'll be going back when my next migraine comes.
