Great beach that's close to Nelson. Dog friendly and accessed from a short path off the road/street parking. Good spot to kite surf if there's wind, but beware the end of the point; it's a sandbar that can collapse and people have drowned there. Can get busy during the summer but it's mostly quiet the rest of the year. Bring an umbrella on hot days if you want shade, as it is limited and only near the beach access/entrance on one end

Nice beach. Fairly small and popular with families. It's just the "point" there is a small foot trail to get in right next to the bridge on the road. Access kindly granted by the family that owns the land there.

This beach has a golden sand beach, and a semi hidden entrance along lower Six Mile rd. Take warning ⚠️, when walking out on the sand spit ( the right hand side is very deep, and has an under tow current)( Southern side). The sand at any time near the right hand edge can be an unstable cornice, and break apart. Many people have unsuspectingly drowned because of that.
The beach is beautiful otherwise, and just go to the left ( North/ Northeast side of the sand spit to safely use).

Amazing beach. The entrance took us a minute as it’s hidden down a private driveway. Park on the main road and then just to the north of the little bridge, you’ll see the pathway. The local owners share their land so we can enjoy the beach. Careful though, there is a sandbar which looks fun but actually crumbles easily and then there is an u dereste cliff with an 80 foot drop. There is a sign on the beach too sharing this information with families so their littles don’t go out there. Otherwise it’s a small pretty quiet beach. One side is tucked into a little bay so it’s shallow for quite a way. The sand is clean. Great family beach.

I see comments from visitors about it's safe for kids with a nice shallow sand point to walk out on and play . Many people as recently as a year ago have drowned being sucked to the bottom of the lake when the sand shelf collapsed . I believe there is finally a sign that advises the swimmers now . But it has a long history of drownings . One witnessed by myself and family who lived on the lake within eye site of the beach . Beautiful but dangerous to walk or allow your kids and pets out to the point . Best way to enjoy six mile beach is to just stay off the point . It builds from sand catching with winter storms and inevitably it will collapse

Lil walk through the woods to a beach that has cold but swimable water. Dogs. Mountain views and you're allowed to be topless? The locals were anyways

This is very private-feel beach located about 10km away from Nelson city. There is no one safeguard on site so please watch the sign as you go into the trail that leads to the beach. Always keep your children in sight and do not get drunk and play in the water as there is a strong current nearby that took people's lives in the past if you don't be careful.
